K4 Curriculum

Bible - Students participate in daily Bible story and prayer time. Monthly Bible memory verses coincide with all units of study, and weekly early elementary chapels reinforce lessons taught in the classroom.

Language Arts - Students utilize Saxon Early Learning curriculum for an introduction to letters and sounds. Instructors emphasize the development of pre-reading skills.

Mathematics - Students are introduced to patterning, sequencing, and sorting. Students learn to identify numbers, count to 20, and count by 10’s. Additional concepts include:

  • Basic shapes
  • 1-to-1 correspondence

Science - Students explore units of study that include fall, winter, spring, and summer. Additional topics include:

  • Woodland animals
  • Five senses
  • Growing plants and parts of plants
  • Apples

Social Studies - Students gain exposure to the concepts of community helpers, family and pets, patriotism, Presidents’ Day, holidays, and transportation.

Art - Students focus on development of motor and pre-writing skills through cutting, various types of painting, play dough, coloring, torn paper, drawing and gluing activities. Art lessons coincide with planned units of study in the classroom.

Music - Students are exposed to basic musical concepts through age-appropriate curriculum in a weekly class. Christmas and spring performances are highlights of the year.

P.E.— Students attend classes twice a week with a focus on basic motor skills development.
