Kindergarten Curriculum

Bible - Students learn about God’s Word by studying Creation through Paul's ministry. Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection, as well as introduction to sin and salvation complete the curriculum.

Language Arts - Students focus on sound and formation of letters, short and long vowels, and blending sounds to form words. Students progress to simple reading, inventive spelling, sentence writing, and proper punctuation. Additional concepts include:

  •  Journaling
  •  Reading comprehension
  •  Sight word reading

Mathematics - Students become skilled at counting by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to 100. They gain mathematical experience by working with patterns, and by learning addition to 10. Students also receive an introduction to subtraction, number concepts, and formation. Additional concepts include:

  • Work problems
  • Reading number words
  • Counting money
  • Graphing
  • Calendar

Science - Students discover and identify the 5 senses, 4 seasons, and environmental differences in the seasons. Students continue their study by investigating the water cycle, temperature changes, farm animals, farm produce and the influence of farms on everyday life. Additional concepts include:

  • Mammals
  • Parts of a plant
  • Growing plants

Social Studies - Students explore the many aspects of patriotism and are introduced to United States history and the many symbols and leaders that represent our country. Additional concepts include:

  • Community
  • Maps
