Pre-1st Curriculum

Bible - Students learn about God’s Word by studying Creation through Paul's ministry. Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection, as well as introduction to sin, salvation and character qualities complete the curriculum.

Language Arts - Students focus on phonemics in sounds of letters, short and long vowels, blending sounds and diagraphs, as well as the formation of letters. Students progress in simple reading, spelling, sentence writing, and proper punctuation. Additional concepts include:

  • Reading comprehension
  • Sight word reading
  • Handwriting

Mathematics - Students become skilled at counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 100. Students begin to understand the number concept and place value by using patterns and manipulatives to solve addition and subtraction problems with a single digit number. Additional concepts include:

  • Word Problems
  • Reading number words
  • Counting money
  • Graphing
  • Calendar

Science - Students begin to understand that God created all things by discovering and identifying the five senses, four seasons, and environmental differences in the seasons. Students continue their study by investigating animals and the influence they have on our everyday life. Students are introduced to a simple science experiment. Additional concepts include:

  • Butterflies
  • Parts of a plant
  • Growing plants

Social Studies - Students explore the many aspects of patriotism and are introduced to United States history and the many symbols and leaders that represent our great country. Additional concepts include:

  • Community
  • Maps
