• Jr. Beta

The Jr. Beta Club is an honors and service organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, and fosters leadership skills. Invitation to the FCS Jr. Beta Club occurs in the fall of each academic year based on the entire academic performance of the previous year.

Membership Information

• Membership in the FCS Jr. Beta Club Honor Society is open to all 6-8th graders that have obtained a 90+ grade in all individual courses.
• Each member is required to participate in a service project each year.

This Year’s NHS and Beta Club Induction was a combined event. The Induction Event included an induction service for both Beta Club and NHS and a food drive for North Fulton Community Charities. Information regarding what students need to bring and do is provided during meetings.

Overview

Beta Club is a national service organization whose purpose is to develop the character of its members, provide opportunities for service in the school and local community, and promote patriotism and good citizenship in the school community. Membership is by invitation, requiring a minimum numeric grade average of 90. Eligible students must complete an application, obtain two teacher recommendations, and commit to ten hours of service each semester.

Information to Note

Students interested in renewing their Beta Club membership or becoming a member of Beta Club for the first time should note the following:

• Beta Club membership is by invitation only to students with a GPA of 90 and above. A list of eligible students is posted in January. If your name is on the list, you are invited to join.
• If you are invited and choose to join, you must complete and submit an application by the indicated deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.
• Please be aware that Beta Club is about your GPA and service. Students are required to serve at Beta Club events.

• National Honor Society

Overview

The National Honor Society is a national organization that gives guidelines to each chapter regarding member selection. Four characteristics form the basis for the society: scholarship, character, service, and leadership.

Membership Information

The National Honor Society foundational pillars are that of Character, Service, Leadership, and Academics. Students must meet the all four requirements in order to be inducted into NHS. Students must first meet the academic eligibility requirements in order to begin the application process.

The application form is not to be filled out quickly. The application form seeks to find out from students to what degree they meet the four pillars of NHS. Only students that are able to show through their application that they strongly and actively continue to meet these four requirements are invited into the society. A thoroughly filled out and on time return of the application is key, students that fail to show through the application that they meet these requirements are not invited to join, these students may very well strongly meet the pillars but if it is not indicated and communicated directly by the student onto the form their application will be denied. Please make sure your eligible student puts as much time into this as they may one day put into a college application.

The application will require a personal essay, and at least two letters of reference. One letter of reference from a teacher of a core course and also a letter of reference from a supervisor of the student. Someone that has observed the candidate in either a service or leadership capacity, or both. Students may wish to determine now who they would like to ask. The application form includes the letter of reference form to give to the adults of choice.

General Information

The following process is used to determine who is eligible to become a member of National Honor Society:

• A list of all sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a NGA of at least 92 for all courses completed is made. This is the initial qualification for membership, and after this step, scholarship is not considered.
• These students receive the application form and the teacher recommendation forms. The deadline for applications is announced.
• It is the student’s responsibility to complete the application and turn the recommendation forms over to their teachers and coaches.
• When the announced deadline arrives, the forms are collected. Unless there are extremely mitigating circumstances, any student who does not meet the deadline will be automatically disqualified. When the teacher forms are collected, if a student’s forms are missing, then that student will not be considered for membership. It is the student’s responsibility to get the forms to the teachers promptly so that the teacher can evaluate them.
• The faculty advisors will convene to examine the information and the student applications.
• The students selected will be notified and a list will be posted. The date for the induction ceremony will be announced, and all new inductees and parents are invited to attend.

Overview

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for High School students enrolled in Spanish III Honors or Spanish IV Honors with an A average. The purpose of this society is to recognize high achievement of high school students in the Spanish language and to promote a continued interest in Hispanic studies in college.

Elementary School Clubs

Girls on Track

Girls on track is a running club for girls in 3rd through 5th grade. This program is not just about running as it also teaches our daughters that they are each unique and special in the way God made them.

Through a Biblical based curriculum, girls will learn how to respect themselves as well as others, complete a service project, spend time with friends and at the same time become fitness conscious. This program focuses around a PALADIN theme that will end with all girls and coaches running a local 5k together. No previous running experience is required.

Who: 3rd – 5th Grade Girls  

Dates: Every Wednesday beginning August 25th through October 20th.  

Time: After school from 2:45 – 4:30.  

5K Race: TBD based on current restrictions (race fee is included with the club fee).  

Cost: $100 (billed through FACTS), participants will receive a Tech Fabric t-shirt and any other club related items.

 

Girls on Track – Winter Edition (The Art of Composing a Letter) - Not offered Spring 2022

Girls on track - a running club for girls in 3rd through 5th grade is back for a Winter session. This program is not just about running as it also teaches our daughters that they are each unique and special in the way God made them.  The girls will also learn the art of writing a letter and each week after their run will proceed to a classroom to construct a letter to a specific recipient.

For the running part of the club - the girls will work on their training for the 1 mile run in PE and to help with qualifying for the Perimeter Track Meet.  No previous running experience is required.

Who: 3rd – 5th Grade Girls  

Dates: Every Wednesday beginning January 29 through March 18th.  

Time: Afterschool from 2:45 – 4:15.  

Cost: There is no cost for this session and participants will receive a sweatshirt and any other club related items.

 

Intentional Walk

Intentional Walk is a baseball club for boys in 3rd through 5th grades. This program is centered around God and how our boys can grow in their faith and for their love of the game of baseball.

Working with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), the boys will start each session with a time of fellowship and devotion focused around a PALADIN theme, the kids will then hit the field for skills development (each will will focus on a different skill). 

Who: 3rd – 5th Grade Boys

Dates: Every Wednesday beginning September 1st through October 20th.  

Time: Afterschool from 2:45 – 4:30.  

Game Day experience: Upon conclusion of the club - TBD

Cost: $100 (billed through FACTS), participants will receive a Tech Fabric t-shirt and a baseball commemorative item.  Special awards for Game Day winners

 

Men In Training

M.I.T.’s mission is to bring young men closer to Christ while spending time with male role models who will share the Word of God and their love of running.

Each Monday after dismissal, we will meet in the in a classroom or at the stadium for a time of devotion and a quick snack, then we will head out to the track or cross country trail to train for a 5K race. This is a great opportunity for your son to fellowship with friends, cross-train for other sports and prepare for the middle-school cross country team. 

Dates: Every Monday beginning February 28th through April 11th, 

Who: 4th & 5th Grade Boys

Where: Participants will run on the track and cross country trail

Time: 2:45 – 4:30 pm (Ending time variable based upon training distance.)

Race Day: TBD
