Foreign Language Curriculum

Spanish 1

This course gives students a positive and confident attitude toward learning a foreign language.  Students build vocabulary and learn basic grammatical structures.  A relaxed and accepting atmosphere helps students overcome anxiety about beginning to use an unfamiliar language.

Spanish II

This course begins with a review and will build upon the grammar learned in Spanish I.  This class introduces new vocabulary and grammar which becomes more complex as students become more proficient.  The culture of Spain is explored through research projects and presentation.

Spanish III Honors

This course is challenging and stretches the students’ vocabulary,, grammar and usage of the language through more complex reading, wring and conversation.  The culture of Spanish speaking countries is explored through research project presentations and the preparation of foods from these countries.  The Spanish bible is provided and used for marking and sharing the plan of salvation and for Bible drills.

Spanish IV Honors

This course is the culmination of information learned in the first three years of Spanish.  It  stretches the students to use vocabulary, grammar, and language usage through  more complex reading, writing and conversation.  It seeks to fuse and fine tune all the years of previous instruction.
