Freshman Information
The Year at a Glance - Overview
Each freshman student, along with their parent(s), will meet with a counselor before the school year begins for a preview of the next four years from an academic and educational perspective. Courses will also be selected for the freshman year during this meeting.
Freshmen should:
- Sign up for rigorous courses and make studying your main priority.
- Participate in extra-curricular activities and begin keeping a resume of your accomplishments
- Work on making good grades. Grades earned your freshman year count toward your Grade Point Average (GPA).
- Talk to college reps who visit so that you can begin to gain knowledge about different schools.
- Take the PLAN in fall of your freshman year. (This is the practice test for
the ACT.)
- Students interested in applying to a military academy should meet with a counselor to prepare a strategy for successful preparation.
- Set up an account with GAcollege411.org and begin mapping your high school plans.
