Senior Information
The Year at a Glance - Overview
The senior class meets during the first week of school to receive general information relative to their last year of high school. Seniors will make appointments to meet one-on-one with a counselor for the purpose of reviewing his/her specific plans for applying to colleges.
Seniors should:
- Take rigorous classes this final year. Don’t let up. Taking a rigorous course load all 4 years will help make the transition to college easier.
- Seniors who are not satisfied with their SAT/ACT scores should take the test again in September or October .
- Apply to the college(s) of your choice in the fall. (August, September, and October)
- Be aware of deadlines because they do matter. Take note of early action or early decision deadlines and scholarship deadlines as well as regular admission deadlines.
- Check each college to see if they require SAT and ACT scores be sent directly from the testing centers or if they will accept scores on an official high school transcript.
- Each senior must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the HOPE Scholarship application beginning January 1 of the senior year to be eligible for HOPE.
- Male students must register for Selective Service to be eligible for the HOPE.
- Finish the senior year strong. College admission is based on the successful completion of high school.
