HIGH SCHOOL

Welcome

Deuteronomy 11 is an exhortation to the next generation and to their parents and teachers. Students are called to love the Lord, to walk in all His ways and to keep His commands. Parents and teachers are given the mandate to teach God’s ways to our children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along beside them. As a college prep high school, our goal is to help students achieve academic excellence, yet we are as deeply committed to helping students grow in discernment through a God-centered worldview that will impact the rest of their lives.

What is a school of excellence? If it means above average national test scores, we have them. If it is means graduates are accepted into top colleges, this is true. If it means highly qualified teachers plus a rigorous academic curriculum, we can provide this evidence. All this is true of our high school, yet our desire is to be so much more than the sum of these parts. John Piper states, “if Christ is not made much of in our lives, then our lives are wasted.” We believe that if Christ is not made much of in our classrooms, in our curriculum, in our activities, then Christian education has been wasted. The only preparation for that one profound decision, which can change a life, or even a nation, is those hundreds of half-conscious, self-defining, seemingly insignificant decisions made in private. Habit is the daily battleground of character. With this awareness, we are committed to the goal of building core relationships with each student. Our goal is to know and see each one as an individual and to honor the work that God is doing in their lives. All of this together helps define what we mean when we call ourselves a Christian school of excellence.

I am proud and blessed to share in this journey with our students and their families. We accept each child as a gift from you. We accept this gift with humility and gratefulness. We promise to pray for them, to protect them, and to be godly mentors to them. I look forward to having the opportunity of getting to know your child and your family.
