Spanish Curriculum

Sixth Grade

Students receive an introduction to Spanish grammar, culture, and language in a nine week course. An exploration of Spanish art, history, and culture relative to its influence in the United States as another focus of the course. Students will obtain a beginning level of Spanish proficiency within the context of the language through:

  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Reading
  • Writing

Seventh Grade

This nine week course is a continuation of the 6th grade introduction to Spanish. The cultural component of this course focuses on a study of the art, history, and culture of the Spanish speaking people with an emphasis on Puerto Rico and Mexico. Students strengthen their level of proficiency with a deeper exploration of Spanish grammar and language through:

  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Reading
  • Writing activities

Eighth Grade (Spanish 1)

This course is offered to students who desire to take Spanish for high school credit. It is a year long class, and students who take this course are not enrolled in the electives/specials course rotation. Please follow this link for a full course description and all requirements. High School Spanish
