Spiritual Life

Spiritual Growth

All of our classes are taught from a Christ-centered, biblical perspective by committed, caring faculty members.  Middle school students attend Bible class daily. With Christ at the center of everything we do, the spiritual development of our students is our most important undertaking.  There are many opportunities for students to grow in their faith at FCS, with spiritual retreats at the beginning of the year and spiritual emphasis week early in the second semester. In addition, our middle school praise band leads worship at our weekly chapels, which include guest speakers, devotion, and prayer. Guest speakers or small group meetings are also a key ingredient in campus spiritual life. Lunch time also affords the occasion for Bible studies and prayer groups to meet during the school day.  New in 2009-2010, advisor groups will meet twice-a-week for a time of sharing, praying, learning, and growing.

Service

Middle School students participate in food drives, school supply collections for needy children, Operation Christmas Child and other opportunities connected with the GO program at the high school.

Giving Goats As Gifts - 7th Grade Service
“Giving Goats as Gifts”, a Samaritan’s Purse service project for 7th grade U.S. History classes, raised money for needy families around the world. Instead of selling miscellaneous items, students chose to help people de-clutter by collecting used books, DVDs and VHS tapes to be sold to a used bookstore.

The three classes brought in bags and boxes of used books and movies through November 6. Mr. Fickley’s 4 Runner was loaded and driven to the bookstore where the donations were accepted. Students received $450 for the used books and movies, which amounts to $150 per class. Classes will soon decide what items from the Samaritan’s Purse catalog to buy. What a great opportunity to “love your neighbor as yourself” and provide gifts like goats, chicks, honey bees, sports equipment and Bibles. Good job, 7th grade!
