Our Middle School retreat is a unique experience that happens early in the school year. We strategically plan this retreat to maximize the students experience at Camp Highland in Ellijay. Each grade has 24 hours at camp by themselves with our Staff and Camp’s Staff. They experience worship, Messages, team building, Fun, Water activities, and much more as we pour into them and teach them scriptures that are learned through outdoor experiences at Camp Highland.
Our 8th graders get to spend an extra day at camp and we allow them to have a special day that only the 8th grade gets to experience.

7th GRADE JEKYLL ISLAND EXPEDITION
Each year, the 7th grade class goes on a science expedition to Jekyll Island. Throughout the year our students are learning all about life in science class. At Jekyll, the students get to experience science outside of the classroom. During our time at Jekyll, the students experience one of Georgia’s beaches, seine for crabs, shrimp, fish and other sea life, observe the fresh and saltwater marshes, explore the natural forests with some of the largest oak trees and visit one of the largest sea turtle refuge centers in the south. While exploring God’s creation, students also worship together, work as a team and strength their relationships with their classmates. Jekyll Island is a trip to experience!

8th GRADE DC TRIP
As a culminating event in the middle school experience of an FCS student, each eighth grade student participates in the annual “Heritage Tour,” which includes comprehensive tours of Washington D.C. and Colonial Williamsburg. Many sites visited focus on elements of American heritage—including history, government, and culture. Through these experiences, students are exposed to stories of courage through adversity, humility, and statesmanship. Coupled with this emphasis on American heritage is a special emphasis on America’s Christian heritage and the clear threads of Christianity in our country’s past and present. Students should walk away with firsthand, immersive lessons that build toward sharper understanding and facilitate the growth of a godly worldview. The tour is planned and managed by FCS middle school faculty, which means curriculum and instruction is customized to the benefit of an FCS student.

Winterfest is an onsite retreat. Winterfest is for all three divisions and lasts two days early in January. We take time off of classes for 2 days to focus on spiritual development. These days are filled with Worship, Messages, Service, Small groups, Fun, and Fellowship. Our students and faculty love Winterfest for so many reasons. It is a highlight of the students year.
