What do you love most about working in education?

There is nothing more exciting in Education than helping students discover Christ for themselves. By opening Scripture and allowing God's Word to dictate how we engage with the world around us, we are able to fully enjoy the presence of the Lord.

Educational Experience: 2 years as Algebra 1, Algebra 2 Honors, and College Math Readiness Teacher at University Christian School, during my undergraduate degree I completed courses that include Calculus, Business Calculus, College Trigonometry, College Algebra, Financial Accounting, Elementary Statistics, Sport Finance, and Operations Management as well as graduate level Sport Finance. Before becoming a full time teacher I worked as a substitute teacher in the Duval County School system substituting mostly for advanced level mathematics courses. During my time as a sub I was also a tutor for ACT/SAT Mathematics prep.

What I enjoy Most: I enjoy the fact that my work has a purpose. I get the opportunity to touch the lives of my students and to help grow them into strong young Christians ready to tackle their future. My teaching career is something that never ends, I am continuously learning and growing each day. Learning new tactics, ideas, and skills to help mold our students. I’m a life long learner and being around students who have an eagerness to learn creates a fire inside of me to grow as an educator. It also allows me to connect with my student athletes in a different setting than on the field, having multiple touch points really allows me to connect and mentor those young persons.

What do you enjoy most about working in Education?

What I enjoy most about working in education is seeing students grow in knowledge and also in their walk with Christ. As a teacher, I know students’ academic, social and spiritual needs are unique. My goal is to understand those needs and help them be the best they can be. Seeing my students grow in all these areas of their lives is one of the most rewarding things in the world.

Coaching Philosophy:
God has given all of us a multitude of talents. Middle School is the time to explore those talents and try everything whether they are good at it, bad at it, or somewhere in between. In keeping with this mindset, I meet each student where they are. Yes, sports are competitive and should be. Each student needs to put in the work to earn their spot. Along with their individual work they need to work well with others to be successful as a team. Ultimately, I plan practice to be challenging yet enjoyable.
