November 17 Rock Climb at RockTown
TREAD will be rock climbing from November 17th. The trip will cost $45 . This will be an DAY trip to SandRock Alabama. We will post a packing list closer to the trip. We will mainly be "Bouldering", but may set up a few top rope routes as well (guide permitting). Any student who has signed up and then cancels after Nov 9 will incur a $25 fee (since we must price out transportation and guide costs in advance)
This is a mixed trip of both Middle School and High School
*** This was originally scheduled as an overnight trip on 11/16-17 but we want to encourage the FCS community to attend the GHSA Football playoff game that FCS will host on Friday night***
February 16 Caving at Raccoon Mountain
TREAD will head to Raccoon Mountain Caverns in Chattanooga, TN on Saturday February 16 for 3 hours of mud crawling fun under the mountain. Guided Caving is a fun and safe way to explore a very unique feature of creation. No experience is necessary, just a willing spirit. Having led this trip for over 15 years, we can attest that it is not too challenging for a beginner, but with enough challenge to make it a lot of fun. The cave holds a year-round temperature of close to 55 degrees, so it will feel very comfortable during a winter crawl.

March 8-9: Backpacking AT
TREAD will head up to the Cohutta Wilderness for an overnight adventure on the trail. This is a backpacking trip, which means students will be required to carry all of their gear for up to 12 miles. TREAD has a limited number of tents/sleeping bags/backpacks to loan out on a first come basis.

March 29-April 1 Appalachian Trail Magic Trip Extended Trip (Spring Break) $80
Trail Magic is the term given when people hiking the entire Appalachian Trail (Ga-Maine) receive blessings of food from locals. TREAD will drive to North Carolina and create a base camp near the AT, where we will spend the days cooking and serving the Through-Hikers that have embarked on their 2000+ mile journey north. The TREAD team will split duty, some will man the food serving while the others day hike the trail with other blessings, and then swap roles. This will be a unique opportunity for the students to minister to and bless these hikers.
Sign Ups close March 15
