Trio from Class of 2023 Complete Junior Seasons on Collegiate Diamond

Three members of the Fellowship Christian School Class of 2023 wrapped up their junior seasons of collegiate baseball this spring.

Pitcher Daniel Powell, who played three seasons at NCAA Division I Kennesaw State, recently transferred to Virginia Tech University of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Pitcher Aubrey Moraitakis finished his first season at NCAA Division I Belmont University following two years of NCAA Division III baseball at Berry College, while catcher Will Phipps played his first season at Emmanuel University of Franklin Springs, Ga. (NCAA Division II).

Powell helped the Owls to a 25-28 record in 2026, including a 13-17 mark in Conference USA play. KSU went 0-2 at the double-elimination Conference USA Baseball Championship.

In 2026, Powell finished first on the team with a career-best 3.27 earned-run average (ERA) and went 6-3 with seven saves and a team-best 64 strikeouts over 55 innings and a team-high 26 appearances, which matched his career best. He also set career bests in saves and strikeouts in 2026.

At Kennesaw State, Powell helped the Owls post an overall record of 88-79 over three years and a 49-36 mark in conference games. KSU reached the 2025 Conference USA semifinals and the ASUN League finals in 2024 (a 5-3 loss to Stetson).

Powell set career bests in wins (seven), appearances (26), starts (two), and innings pitched (56) as a sophomore. He went 7-2, held opposing batters to just a .205 average and allowed 42 hits, 33 runs (28 earned) that season. He made 16 appearances as a freshman.

Moraitakis helped Belmont – located in Nashville, Tenn. – notch a 21-34 overall record and a 11-13 mark in Missouri Valley Conference matches in 2026.

For the Bruins in 2026, Moraitakis pitched in a career-high 16 games, including one start, threw 18 innings, allowed 31 hits, struck out 17 and finished with an 8.50 ERA.

Moraitakis transferred to Belmont following two seasons for the Vikings. In two years at Berry, Moraitakis pitched in 25 games (13 starts) with a 1-7 record, two saves, 58 2/3 innings pitched and 49 strikeouts. He helped the Vikings finished 48-36 with a 21-14 SAA mark over those two seasons.

At Berry, Moraitakis set career bests with 5.79 earned-run average and two saves in 2025. As a freshman, he recorded career bests with 40 innings pitched and 26 strikeouts as a freshman.

Phipps helped Emanuel finish 21-29 this spring that included a 16-17 mark in Conference Carolinas games. The team went 0-1 in the Conference Carolinas Championship.

The catcher played in 20 games for the Lions, including 10 starts, and hit .235 with eight hits, three doubles, one homer, four runs scored and 12 RBIs. He set college career highs in RBIs and doubles and matched his best in home runs.

Phipps finished his junior college career at Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tenn., in 2025. That season he played in 30 games and batted .167 with one home run, two doubles, six RBIs, 10 hits and 13 runs. He set career bests in homers, hits and runs, and helped the Cougars notch a 30-25 overall record and a 16-14 conference mark. Phipps’ lone homer was a grand slam in a playoff game for Cleveland State.

Phipps began his career at NJCAA Spartanburg Methodist College as a freshman. Phipps hit .400 in eight games with Spartanburg Methodist.
