Coffin Helps Berry Notch Historic Football Year, Prepares for Junior Season in Rome

Caden Coffin had a front-row seat to the Berry College football team’s best season in school history.

“It went great,” Coffin said about his sophomore season. “We went further than any other Berry team had. We played well and beat great teams. I saw significant time from my freshman year. I played a ton [seven games total]. I played in all the home games and can play both guard positions. I love it at Berry. I am glad God called me to be here.”

The Vikings finished 11-2 in 2025, including a 2-1 mark in the NCAA Division III Football Championships. Berry lost to John Carroll University, 21-13, at home in the quarterfinals on Dec. 13.

Berry finished 7-0 in SAA games and won the league championship.

Coffin, who has spent his summer with an internship with Consist.Tech in Atlanta for the second consecutive summer, enters his junior year at Berry as a strategy and leadership major.

“The internship has been great,” he said. “I get to help people fix problems at Consist.Tech. I want to help people.”

He had a great year in the classroom as well as the football field.

Coffin notched a 4.0 GPA and earned a spot on the Berry College Dean’s List and was selected for the All-SAA Academic Team for the second consecutive season. He made the Dean’s list at Berry in 2024 as well.

The 6-foot-1, 265-pound offensive guard has enjoyed his two seasons with the Vikings’ program.

“It’s great to be up there,” he said. “It’s the closest team I have been a part of. A lot of us are true servants of God. We have a big Bible study group. We are always together, which has really helped build team chemistry. On the field this team is all gas, no brakes. Last season came down to us wanting it more than the other teams.”

In 2024, Berry went 8-3 overall and owned a 6-1 mark in SAA contests during Coffin’s freshman season. The Vikings won the first of back-to-back conference championships and advanced to the NCAA Division III Football Championships in 2024 but fell 20-16 to Maryville College at home in the first round in November.

Fellowship prepared Coffin well for the rigors of college football.

“Great coaches there,” he said. “They always had us well prepared. The coaches, teachers and staff at Fellowship have really made a big difference in my life. The facilities there are nicer than a lot of colleges.”

Coffin fondly recalls his career at FCS and his teammates.

“I will always remember that Calvary Day win [in the state playoffs on Nov. 26, 2021]. The only people who knew we’d win was the team. It’s an honor to be a part of great program with so many guys in college sports. I love seeing how well my classmates are doing. We had great football coaches at Fellowship.”

Coffin plays in same conference as FCS graduates Nick Persiano (Rhodes College) and Caleb Silvers (Centre College).
