Ferraro Prepares for Final Collegiate Lacrosse Season
The season ended in a disappointing fashion for the NCAA Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University lacrosse team this past spring.
“It was a good season, but disappointing in the end,” said Graham Ferraro, a long stick midfielder for the Bears. “It was a fun year though. We had one of the best teams in the country, so it was really good. But we lost in the Division II quarterfinals [9-7 to Anderson on May 13].”
In two seasons with Lenoir-Rhyne, Ferraro has helped the Bears to a 26-9 overall record. Lenoir-Rhyne posted a 12-5 overall record and a 7-2 mark in South Atlantic Conference contests in 2026. In 2025, the team was 14-4 overall, 8-2 in conference play and lost in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Championships to No. 5 Wingate University, 17-16, on May 7, 2025.
“I am super glad I came here,” Ferraro said. “It’s a great culture here and I have made life-long friends. I thought about not playing lacrosse after my freshman year, but I am so glad I continued.”
Ferraro played in 13 games as a junior at the school located in Hickory, N.C., notching one assist, two shots and one shot on goal. In 2025, Ferraro played in 15 games with one start and recorded one assist, three shots and one shot on goal for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne won the 2023 national championship and lost in the 2024 title game to Adelphi, the school that won back-to-back championships in 2024 and 2025.
A 2023 graduate of FCS, Ferraro began his collegiate lacrosse career at now defunct Birmingham Southern College in 2023-24.
During his freshman season, Ferraro notched four goals, two assists, six points, eight shots, 31 ground balls, 25 caused turnovers and four face-off wins as a freshman long-stick midfielder for the Division III Panthers in the Southern Athletic Association. He played in nine games for BSC, including two starts.
Ferraro feels blessed to have played three years of college lacrosse following a stellar career at FCS.
“I have to say the competitive side to college lacrosse is the biggest difference [from high school],” he said. “It’s another level from high school lacrosse. I really enjoy that. I like to compete. I am going to try and soak it all in this season. It’s gone so fast. But I will enjoy it all no matter what [in 2027].”
Ferraro heads back to North Carolina following his internship for a grueling fall camp of five practices a week and 2-3 scrimmages. The Bears spring season begins in late January 2027.
A marketing major with a biology minor, Ferraro has spent this summer in New Jersey interning for a medical sales company.
“It’s going well,” he said. “I have been pretty busy. I am looking at a position on the medical side as a sales rep after I graduate. Helping people is important to me, and working in this industry would give me an opportunity to help people.”
Playing lacrosse under Lou Corsetti, the boys’ lacrosse director and head coach, at Fellowship helped prepare Ferraro for college.
“Lou is one of the staples of Georgia lacrosse,” Corsetti said. “I actually played for him in middle school on a travel team before I was at Fellowship. He really grew the game in Georgia, but really all over the south. He was really so much more than just a lacrosse coach to me. He coaches his players well, but helps his players grow as the whole person too.”
