Middle School Cross-Country Team Participates in Metro 10 Championship

Several runners from the Fellowship Christian School middle school cross-country team set new personal bests at the Metro 10 Championship held at Allatoona Creek Park in Acworth on Oct. 17.

“While the Paladins did not bring home a trophy this meet, individual goals were reached by several runners who finished their season with new personal records set in the 2- mile run,” head coach Tom Harrison said. “It was a great way to end the season.”

Eighth-grader Braden Crenshaw finished his middle school cross-country career with his strongest race to date with a personal record and an 11^th-place finish. Eighth-grader Patrick Neary also set a PR to wrap up his middle school career as well.

Other PRs set on the boys’ side included seventh-graders Hudson Shoemaker and Mason Ferrell and sixth-grader Levi Mitchell.

“Those guys finished their season in good fashion by showing great tenacity, digging in, and pushing through to earn their own new PRs,” Harrison said. “Likewise, in the girl’s race, Marin Wallach, Collette Ferrara and Rome White finished strong, turning in PR performances as well. As demonstrated by these runners, hard work pays off. Ending the season with new personal records brings a sense of satisfaction to the individuals who earn them and to the team.”

Paladins Bring Home Third-Place Finish at Etowah River Rumble

The middle school boys’ cross-country team from Fellowship Christian School finished third out of eight teams held on Sept. 26 at Etowah River Rumble at Boling Park in Canton.

Two FCS runners placed in the top 15 – eighth-grader Braden Crenshaw and sixth-grader Liam Barch – and finished their race together a mere three seconds apart.

“No other runner finished between them, which is important to save points for the team to ensure a competitive edge in a small race like this one,” head coach Tom Harrison said. “Likewise, our remaining three scorers – Everett Strack, Silas Hughes and Blake Landi – completed their race tightly as one finished right after the other. That helped contain other runners behind them, which likewise safeguarded our third- place finish. We entered nine boys into this race, and seven finished their races with a new personal record in the 2-mile run.”

Sixth-grader Marin Wallach represented the Lady Paladins in the girls’ race.

It was the fifth race of the season for the FCS squad.

Boys’ Team Places Ninth at Wingfoot XC Classic

The boys’ middle school cross-country squad from Fellowship Christian School placed ninth among 30 teams at the Wingfoot XC Classic held at Sam Smith Park in Cartersville on Sept. 20. The girls’ squad brought home 21^st place out of 29 teams.

In the boys’ race, 591 athletes joined at the starting line, and there were 455 girls participating in the girls’ race.

“While the starting line was quite crowded for both races, the FCS runners used the energy of the starting line to their advantage,” head coach Tom Harrison said. “They started well while maintaining their pace throughout the 3K course and then finished strong, to cross the finish line with great individual effort which enable the boys’ team to place well – in the top 10 team finishes.

“The boys’ team were led by Liam Barch, Braden Crenshaw and Liam Flurry who proved themselves worthy of the challenges of the course by working together to finish closely and clustered, ensuring their points for the team. Likewise, Jacob Caldwell and Myles Morecraft brought points for the team by finishing fourth and fifth for the team, respectively. All in all, a good race day for the FCS Paladins, demonstrated by some good individual and team effort.”

It was the fourth meet of the season for the middle school boys and girls.
