Headed for Sweet 16: Lady Paladins Advance with State Playoff Win

The Fellowship Christian School varsity girls’ basketball team has advanced to the next round of the GHSA Private Girls Basketball Championship.

On Feb. 24 at Paladin Gym, the No. 15 Lady Paladins defeated No. 18 St. Vincent’s Academy of Savannah, 46-43, to not only reach the Sweet 16 but set a new school record for victories in a season with 17.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our girls,” head coach Ceasar Brown said. “With so much to gain in this game – setting the school record for the most wins –

and advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time in four years and playing in front of our community for the final game at home, our girls dug deep and fought with so much effort for each other. And we couldn’t have done it without the support of our families and friends. It was a great win.”

The Lady Paladins, who improved to 17-11 with the win, rallied from a 39-38 deficit after the third quarter to notch a three-point win with an 8-4 fourth-quarter advantage.

Fellowship jumped out to a 15-5 lead after the first quarter and held a 24-18 halftime lead.

Senior Tristen Brown, who has more than 1,000 points in her FCS career, topped the Lady Paladins with 12 points. Junior Rebecca Wade netted 10 points and junior Mary Rey Shroyer added nine points.

The Lady Paladins have reached the state tournament four times and seek their first trip to the Elite 8.
