Team Accolades

For the eighth consecutive year, the Fellowship Christian School baseball program has earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for its team 3.61 GPA in 2023-24.

National Accolades

Fellowship Baseball Program Recognized by American Baseball Coaches Association

Shawn Oliver has guided the Paladins to a 165-70 record over his first eight seasons as head coach at Fellowship. Oliver’s Paladins teams have qualified for the state playoffs the last six seasons, including consecutive trips to the GHSA Class AA Baseball Championships in 2023 and 2024. FCS advanced to the state playoff Final 4 for three straight seasons from 2021-23. Oliver has been named Region Coach of the Year four times (2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023).

“This is a true TEAM Award and real testament to the hard work of our student-athletes along with the unwavering, incredible support from our faculty and staff,” Athletic Director David Lowery said. “Having head coaches in our building makes a huge difference and Coach O’s leadership in academics is commendable. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Shawn Oliver [Coach O] on this distinguished and impressive recognition.”

All-Region Baseball Team

Six Paladins Receive Post-Season Accolades

Six members of the Fellowship Christian School’s baseball team were selected for the GHSA Class AA Region 8 All-Region team.

Freshman infielder Reid Harke and junior pitcher Lawson Ivey were selected for the first team, while freshman pitcher Jake Brannon and junior outfielder Tristan Costolulas were picked for the second team.

Freshman pitcher James Sharp and sophomore infielder Jack Hughes earned honorable mention status.

Harke led the Paladins with 40 hits, a .435 batting average, three triples and 92 at-bats, shared first with 18 RBIs and one home run, and finished fifth with five doubles.

Ivey topped FCS pitchers with 43 innings pitched and four wins and shared first with 10 games pitched and eight starts. He finished with a 4-3 record, one save and a 2.60 ERA.

Brannon registered a 2-3 record and a 2.18 ERA. He ranked second among FCS pitchers with 24 strikeouts.

Costoulas led the squad with 12 doubles, shared the lead with one homer, tied for second with 27 hits, and shared third with 17 RBIs. He smacked one triple.

Hughes shared third on the Paladins with 17 RBIs. He collected 20 hits, seven doubles and one triple.

Sharp topped the team with 27 strikeouts and shared first among FCS pitchers with 10 games pitched and eight starts. He notched a 1-3 record in 32 1/3 innings pitched and owned a 4.11 ERA.

Redan High School

Loss 5-2

Playoff DH: Paladins Lose to Redan in Opening Series

The season is over for the Fellowship Christian School varsity baseball team.

The Paladins, No. 4 from Region 8, lost a doubleheader at Redan High School in Stone Mountain on April 25, 9-0 and 5-2, to open the GHSA Class AA Baseball Championships. Redan is the No. 1 Seed for Region 5.

In the second game, the Paladins scored twice in the fourth inning and collected five hits.

“That’s a quality baseball team we played today,” head coach Shawn Oliver said. “You can’t play the way we did and try to hang with them. Two guys on the playoff roster had multiple ABs last year but now headed into next season almost everyone had mound time or plate time. The growth these dudes showed from the first game against Saint Francis to this last two weeks is measurable and it is awesome. You never want to lose but for these guys to make it to this spot is a testament to their hard work and dedication. I’m thankful for the time we had together and excited to see the path this team takes over the next year. Excited to CLIMB together.”

The Raiders improved to 22-4 with the doubleheader sweep. The Paladins ended the season 13-16.

Junior Tristan Costoulas led FCS with two hits, while junior Jack Oetinger collected one hit and two RBIs. Freshmen James Sharp and Reid Harke notched one hit each.

Junior Lawson Ivey threw a complete game for the Paladins. He allowed seven hits and five runs (two earned) and fanned four.

Years in teaching/coaching: Enters 2024-25 with 11 years in education. Joined FCS as varsity baseball coach in 2016-17. Also serves as varsity softball coach.

Family: Married Jessica Oliver in 2009.

Career awards, accomplishments, highlights: Has led Paladins to a 165-70 record over his first eight seasons at Fellowship. Led Paladins to consecutive Region championships and back-to-back trips to the Final 4 of the GHSA Class A Private School Baseball Championships in 2021 and 2022. Team finished 2022 with school-record 28-5 mark. Paladins made school's first trip to GHSA Baseball Championship Final 4 in 2021. Guided 2020 club to a 9-0 record. Led Paladins to the Elite Eight of the GHSA Class A Private School Championships, a Sub-Region Championship in 2019 and a 24-10 record. Guided squad to second round of GHSA Private School Baseball Championships and a 21-12 record in 2018 and a 16-13 mark in 2017. Served on the staff of the 2015 FHSAA State Championship Football team, and the 2016 District Championship Baseball team. As a player, Oliver was named All Clay County Baseball Team in 2005, and was a four-year letterman in football, basketball and baseball in high school.

Coaching Philosophy: All members of the Fellowship Christian School program will be fundamentally sound in basic skills and techniques of the game, understand and execute the team offensive and defensive strategies, know the rules of the game and be well-disciplined in conduct, both on and off the field. It is also imperative that players understand their role in the program, and what it means to be part of the team. Team will always come before individual. Working for and accomplishing common goals will be the ultimate gratification that anyone can get from participating in a team activity. All the players and coaches within the FCS baseball program understand that they are part of something special. All players and coaches will be held to high standards and expectations that will make each player a proud representative of their family, school and community.

Other bio information: Serves as ambassador for the Donovin Darius Foundation. Named to 2005 All Clay County Baseball Player in 2005. Four-year letterman in basketball, baseball and football in high school.
