Paladins tie Lanier Christian Academy, 2-2
The Fellowship Christian School JV boys soccer team played for the first time this season on March 18.
At Bob Lord Field, the Paladins tied Lanier Christian Academy, 2-2.
“This was a great opportunity for many of our boys to get some good field time,” head coach Andy Trevers said. “At times they circulated the ball well and created numerous opportunities. Mathe opened the scoring on a great finish on an assist from Eric Berends. The boys continued to work hard but found themselves behind against the run of play midway through the second half. They continued to persevere and crafted the goal of the game when Hinson Camak played a diagonal pass and Mathe lashed home from 20 yards a dipping half volley which was worthy of ESPN.”
Sophomore Dylan Mathe scored both goals for FCS, which led 1-0 on Mathe’s first goal with 18:00 left in first half.
Lanier tallied goals at 31:20 and 27:19 of the second half to take a 2-1 advantage before Mathe evened the contest with 11:52 to go.
Freshman Hinson Camak and junior Eric Berends both collected an assist in the match.
Mathe led FCS with seven shots and four shots on goal. Sophomore Chris Ghobrial recorded five shots and two shots on goal.
Lanier finished with four corner kicks and FCS added two.
